Who are we?

The Commune Table is the online learning arm of Commune Kitchen, one of Singapore’s leading cooking schools. Built from years of hands-on teaching, our courses go beyond recipes to help you understand technique, intuition and the “why” behind cooking. From sourdough and fermentation to Chinese cuisine and gluten-free cooking, our classes are designed to help home cooks build real confidence in the kitchen — wherever they are in the world. Learn at your own pace through comprehensive, pre-recorded lessons hosted on Thinkific, with clear chapters, ongoing discussion support and certificates awarded upon completion for selected courses.

Payal Thakurani

Culinary Director

Payal Thakurani is a chef, educator and founder of Commune Kitchen & now Commune Table Singapore. Having lived and learnt to cook across Hong Kong, Shanghai, Thailand and Singapore, her approach blends tradition, technique and culinary science. A certified baker from Le Cordon Bleu, Payal specialises in fermentation, baking and global cuisines, helping home cooks understand the “why” behind cooking - not just follow recipes. Through years of hands-on teaching, travel and study, she translates professional culinary knowledge into practical, confidence-building skills for everyday kitchens.
